Midlife Crisis Here

It's not a joke. I thought it was a joke. It is very unfortunately not a joke. People really have midlife crisises. I'm having one.

To manage the midlife crisis, I'm doing what everyone who has a midlife crisis does. I'm going out to achieve my long-time, never-realized goal.

Which is?

Writing a book. A chapter book.

My kids are funny. I was working on it at lunch the other day and we were talking about possible plot ideas. Will, my oldest, is sort of going along with it, sort of detached and thinking about Legos when all of a sudden I see the light go on. He leans toward my notebook searching it for meaning and says, "You mean YOU'RE writing a real book? Like Lord of the Rings!" Don't you just love the way kids can make you feel so good and yet so absolutely stupid.

As if I could write Lord of the Rings.

But I can write. So I'm off for a while to listen to Pink while I try to think of my cool story line to help cure me of my mid-life crisis. My villain is AWESOME. I've never in my whole life been able to write a villain. Woo-stinkin-hoo baby.
